《重修旧好》00001 - Who will comfort Toffle?

My first encounter with Moomin began in 2006, during my first trip to London Tate Museum. Only later that I've learned that Tove Jansson, who is the mastermind behind the Moomin series, was the woman who transformed her vulnerability into beautiful stories that will bring light into children's world.

Who will comfort Toffle? is from one of the Moomin series of stories.

It is a story about a lonely little boy who is easily afraid of many things. One day, he decided to venture out of his comfort zone to search for new friends.

Along his journey, he toured the darkness and colourful sides of his life and discovered someone just as lonely as he was - Miffle. From then on, he knew he was not alone.

I wish to capture the essence of this story and to merge it seamlessly into this dress. Both faces of the dress can be worn both front and back, which reminds the wearer of the contrast of the dark and bright sides of Toffle's adventure, represented by both sides of the dress.

喜欢Tove Jansson的插画不是一两天的事。以前纯粹只是表面喜欢她的插画而开始收集她的书籍。后来，反复的重看Tove的文字和插画发觉她有一颗很温暖的心。她的成名作就是每个北欧小孩都知道的-姆明。1960年，在姆明的系列里，有位叫Toffle的朋友天生孤僻。有一天他厌倦了孤单，于是鼓起勇气走出去。

在新的旅程中，Toffle开始体验了生活的各种颜色，有时黑暗世界；有时色彩缤纷。终于，他遇见也正在寻找朋友的Miffle，才知道在世界的另一端也有跟自己一样为孤单苦恼的女生。从那时候开始, Toffle才知道原来自己并不孤单。

我想把Toffle故事里的精华，跟衣服合二为一。因为衣服的剪裁，可以不分前后，我想到了Toffle的黑暗世界和彩色世界的对比可以用衣服的两面来呈现。

The canvas for my 2nd exhibition artwork is named the Little Boy Blue (named after a shade of blue in the Pantone colour chart) dress, which originated from a second-hand store.

被改造前的衣服颜色是Little boy blue，来自二手店铺。也因为衣服上没有任何的图案，把Toffle的故事加在里面会很有趣。
