Movies that change the world to a better place 1/2

Dear friends,

How are you lately? What are the 2 favourite things you do when you stay at home?

Mine include movies📹 and books📚

Today it's the 15th day since Malaysia declared the lockdown of the country. Although I am staying in Singapore, on ordinary days (which I have taken for granted), I will travel to Johor Bahru twice a month with my husband. Away from the busy city like Singapore, it has been the nearest hideout for me to "breathe".

Without travelling for more than a month, I had spent most of my spare time reading books and watching movies related to mindfulness, living in the moment, sustainability, spiritual and many more which guide me and remind me of my first intention, and to create my brand, Wabisabi.

So, here I have a list of 10 movies/documentaries which I am highly recommending if you too would want to fill your thoughts with mindfulness.

1a. Little Forest Spring/Winter
1b. Little Forest Summer/Fall
A very beautiful movie about a girl named Ichiko moving from the city back to her home town, to live a sustainable lifestyle, by practising eating from farm to table. Her home-cooked recipe is the highlight of the show!

2.The boy who harnessed the wind
Based on a true-life story, the young schoolboy - William, using his knowledge about energy to convert whatever resources he could find to safe the people in his village, who are dying out of hunger.

Favourite quotes from the movie:
“If you want to make it, all you have to do is try.”

3.Princess Mononoke
This movie showcases the consequences of human civilisation, the misconception split between man and nature, and how it causes the imbalance of the entire eco-system.

Favourite quotes from the movie:
“The tree cry out as they die, but you cannot hear them.”

4.Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
Nausicaä is a princess of the Valley of the Wind, who is living in an era where the majority of Earth, are believed to be invaded by mutant insects.

To prove her point, she dives deep into researching the fact to prove that human and insects (nature) can co-exist without killing each other.

This movie echoes the reflection of our current life, on how we are part of nature but we are also disconnected from nature

Favourite quotes from the movie:
I found that with clean water and soil, the plants from the toxic jungle aren't poisonous. All the poison is in the soil. Even the topsoil in our valley is polluted. But...I don't understand. Who could have polluted the entire earth?.”

5. Under the Tuscan Sun
The last movie is also a movie based on true events. Frances is an American writer who is heartbroken and lost. On her first trip to Tuscano, Italy, she bought a house without second thoughts. I will not reveal too many details about this movie, and you'll have to catch it yourself to find out how this movie gives hope and cheer!

Favourite quotes from the movie:
1.“Life offers you a thousand chances... all you have to do is take one.”
2. “They say they built the train tracks over the Alps before there was a train that could make the trip. They built it anyway. They knew one day the train would come. Any arbitrary turning along the way, and I would be elsewhere. I would be different. What are four walls, anyway? They are what they contain. The house protects the dreamer. Unthinkably good things can happen, even late in the game. and I would be elsewhere.”
